John D'Eri, CEO & Senior Strategist

Learn more about John
John is the CEO and Senior Strategist of CanDo Business Ventures. John is a seasoned entrepreneur with a financial background and a visionary approach to organizing and executing business concepts. Graduating from St John’s University in 1982 with a B.S. in accounting, John spent the next 10 years in the field of public accounting specializing in Tax Planning and Management Advisory Services. In 1992, John founded World Copy Inc., a business focusing on providing reprographic services to the top law firms in New York City. In order to separate himself from the competition and reduce operating overheads John developed proprietary equipment and focused on advanced technology. World grew quickly to over 100 employees and established itself as a leading service provider within the New York legal community. Along the way John received US patent #5,848,202 "System and Method for Imaging and Coding Documents" for his system of document coding and retrieval.
In 1996, while an active CEO at World, John founded the Chelsea Equestrian Center, a state-of-the-art equestrian center, centrally located at Manhattan's Chelsea Piers Sports and Entertainment Complex. There were many obstacles to the creation of a private riding academy that housed 50 Horses in the middle of New York City, but being an equestrian and seeing a need, the CEC became a reality. In 1999 John sold the CEC to an investment group who were unable to continue the complex dream and unfortunately the CEC unceremoniously closed in August 2001.
In 2000, he organized a team of programmers dedicated to creating a complete integrated scan-print solution for World Copy and rebranded it as World Document Solutions. The business continued to evolve from its paper roots into one of the first independents in NYC to focus on Electronic Data Discovery (EDD). World handled the data on some of the nation’s largest litigations. In 2008 John Sold World Document Inc.
In 2010, with a proprietary technology, he founded NYC based MercuryIQ. MercuryIQ is an EDD company whose services encompass forensic data Collection and data processing through hosted data review for law firms and corporate council. MIQ grew quickly and by 2011 expanded into San Antonio Texas. Recently, John filed applied patent # 30128/00102 “ Method and System for Filtering Outgoing email”.
In September of 2011, 1 year after initial conceptualization, John co founded CanDo Business Ventures. Stay tuned ……………………………

Tom D'Eri, Co-Founder & Managing Partner

Learn more about Tom
Over the past few years Tom has leveraged his love for the environment into a more holistic view of what sustainability really means. From this perspective, Tom couldn’t help but notice the struggles his brother, a 21 year old with autism, was facing in finding a job and thought there must be a way to help. So when his father, John D’Eri, came up with the idea for Can Do Business Ventures, Tom could not contain his enthusiasm and decided to jump right in to help make his father’s vision a reality.
Throughout Tom’s college career he actively engaged with organizations to help them become more sustainable and socially conscious. These experiences helped him gain a strong skill set in research, analysis, business planning and collaboration.
Tom is a graduate of Bentley University with summa cum laude honors in Economics/Finance and a concentration in Earth, Environment, and Global Sustainability. He currently serves on the board of the RACI Project and is a StartingBloc Fellow. In his spare time, Tom enjoys travelling, reading, martial arts and scuba diving.
